About Me
I am a stroke survivor. I worked in the corporate world for twenty years. After several downsizings, mergers and acqusitions the stress nearly got the best of me. In 1995, I decided to take fate into my own hands and start my own training and consulting business. In 1997, I suffered a severe stroke that left me paralyzed on my right side and nearly unable to speak. After one year of rehab, I learned to speak again and was able to function with a limp and some paralysis in my foot. I also have dexterity problems with one of my hands. Following the stroke my family and I struggled with the mental, emotional and social issues we faced in our new phase of life. Information on overcoming adversity and what to expect next was hard to find. We faced many issues as we still do today. It was ironic for me that I was a motivational speaker and teacher. I decided to help other survivors and loved ones that have experienced a life altering illness by writing a book titled, "Take Brave Steps for Stroke Survivors and Families - A message of motivation and hope." To learn more you can visit my web site at www.takebravesteps.com. I want to be involved with the Disaboom community as a member to share and learn, as well as to be a source of inspiration. My goal is to help others live a better life.
