I am a person with disabilities whom has a nak of communicating with animals. No I am not related to Dr. Doolittle nor do the animals talk in my native tongue! Grins! Being I like being around animals as they are great stress relievers, I opted to train my own dogs as a service dog! This decision did not come over night by far as I taught many dogs before. Using various methods through out the years. I prefer using OC with Positive Reinforcement taking a bad behaviour and changing it into a positive one. Always setting my dogs up to succeed which is less stressful for my dogs and the teams! I am also a member of several organizations for disability rights (big and small - National and Local). Though one does not have to join such organizations in order to be involved. Getting involved with local events, having a booth, doing speeches, writing letters. Whatever it may be as I have constantly talk about service animals however my service dog is a magnet in getting people to ask questions especially at restaurants after they realize there is a dog under the table. Grins!
