Bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee after my accident, lost both legs above the knee while working at the railroad, and while I was healing started looking on the internet at some Jeep sites. Well, I have lifted the Jeep, first time 2", then 3.25" and soon another lift up to 4", and go offroading occaisionally. I did most of the work myself with a helping hand from some friends. I have perm. hand controls and most people are surprised once they see/hear I am an amputee, let alone that I offroad in a Jeep GC.

Let me know if any one else here enjoys offroading.

I've never driven offroad, but I've watched a lot of it. Here in Florida we have events where you can take your trucks through obstacle courses with mud pits and what I call "Florida rock crawling" lol. Since we don't have rock crawling here like out west, we put our big concrete pieces we throw in a pile and make artificial mini mountains lol. I have pictures, if you'd like to see. Was so fun to watch, just wish I had the truck to do it. Also when I was younger, a friend of my family used to have his own mud pit in his backyard and we would be out there every weekend. I sure miss it, because it was fun. I'm hoping as soon as I get my car paid off I can save up some money and buy me a truck as a toy. Everyone just laughs and says I'll run over something driving a big jacked up truck lol.

There are a lot of friends of ours that like to take their 4-Wheeled Pick-ups out and take them Mudding. Man they get really nasty looking. I have never have done it, but I think it looks like fun.

Before I had to turn in my driver's license, I used to go Rock Crawling in a 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that was lifted. Great fun and campout around the fire. My coordination is so affected now that I can no longer drive. I sure do miss the sport. Dave

That's a link to the ORV area I lived near when I was in college.  I used to love going there, even now, I'm only 170 miles away.  Great weekend trip.  I drive an '03 Dakota, and for the most part it did awesome.  However, some of those trails were designed specifically to see what it takes to stop a Hummer (the real ones).
