Where can I find a guideline to 4 wheel walkers?  I found odd that walkers are not made for young persons.  I am 46 and I do walk a lot.  I have to use my 4 wheel walker since MS has affected my balance.  In Puerto Rico walkers get beaten up too quickly and the choice of getting into a scooter is out of the question.   Now I live in Orlando, Florida but 4 wheel walkers get damage in the same way.  Where can I find a reliable walker?      There is a wide varity of wheeled walkers at spinlife.com that are in all price ranges. Ihave found that they have good quality products, great prices, and free shipping if order is over a certain amount. Customer service is also great.

When I needed a four wheeled walker with a seat, I took my doctor's prescription (because it is partially covered by Medicaire), into a large medical supply store, and they had catalogues (as well as floor models), which listed color, weight (would give you a good idea of durability), wheel style, etc.  I had a full range of choices, and they were helpful.  Good luck, whatever method you choose, in meeting your needs. bonnie

jamie The reason for my posting was a regretful accident at my child school.  She was absent from the school one week and a half and I needed to get the books for her so she could do some of the homework but my 4 wheel walker got stock on a crack of the sidewalk and I loosed balance and sort of fall forward and this made the wheel on the walker break.Being new in Orlando created a stressful moment for me and I had to get back home in one piece.  I went to a supplier for the 4 wheel walker and had the most interesting conversation with the repair attendance.I explained to him and asked him for a brand of a 4 wheel walker made for persons who need to walk a lot.  To surprise he use the adjective of 4 wheel walkers that are made for elderly and not for young people.  I am not wheelchair bound yet and I had to do the things I need to do and all of these makes me walk a lot.I am just 46 years old and I have an adolescent for a child.  I have certainly found surprising that 4 wheel walkers are not made for young persons.  I have to use my 4 wheel walker since MS has affected my balance.  In Puerto Rico I had a Health Insurance since MS is consider a catastrophic condition but the insurance does not cover for equipment.  I guess that this is situation on the island is due to the lack of resources.  MS is label as a chronic condition in the United States. There is was hit by a hit and run and after a lot work on my part (pressure) the culprit was found and he paid for a replacement.  I had to file a complaint at the Puerto Rico Police Department when an officer denied my request for a report and to call an ambulance.I had to tell the Supervisor Officer that I had already filed a complaint with the US Department of Transportation for a similar attitude to deny services and I will not have a doubt to do the same because the government of Puerto Rico was neglecting to attend the needs of Persons with Disabilities.  I asked him, “Are you familiar with section 504 of Rehabilitation from the Code of Federal Regulation?”  He just gave a look that was major.  I told him “Denying services to Persons with Disabilities put in danger the Federal Funds.  This funds can be frozen and it has happen in California and I invited him to do his duty as a supervisor.”

He got the cop on the phone immediately and gave him a piece of his mind.  Thanks for the suggestion of www. spinlife.com.

ActiveForever.com There are a bunch of four wheel rollators out there, but the best one I have found is the Dana Douglas Nexus 3. It is much lighter than most, has larger wheels for rough terrain, and folds vertically (unlike any other rollator). In my experience it seems to be the most popular one. You can click on the live chat link at the top of the page if you need helping pick one out though. Hope this helps. Good luck in your search!

    rainey826,

NO I HAVE NOT HAD THE TIME TO ASK A DOCTOR FOR ADVICE YET.  MY MAJOR CONCER WAS MY CHILD THAT HAD TO GO THRU THE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE OF AN INTRA FAMILIAR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SITUATION WITH MY MOTHER.

I HAD TO GET OUT OF PUERTO RICO BECAUSE THE SYSTEM THERE IS COMPLETELY BACKWARDS.  I HAD HEALTH INSURANCE BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST A INSTITUTIONAL ABUSE FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF PUERTO RICO.

HERE I DO NOT HAVE A HEALTH INSURANCE BUT MY CHILD IS MORE IMPORTANT AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

     GOOD LUCK FOR YOU TOO.
