A wonderful event is being hosted for me, which I have mentioned in a few Threads, and Triddog suggested a Thread so folks would be up to speed on what I am talking about.  It's a lovely gift from my friends and family.

As most know, I have been very ill.  To celebrate my survival, my friends and family decided to give a "Thanksgiving Party," Pot Luck and also kitchen cooked.  For those old enough to remember, or who have caught the video, it is beginnng to look somewhat like some aspects of the great old film, "Alice's Restaurant."  But it this is a happy event.  They are even planning a large tent if the weather is bad (we are here in the South, but friends are coming in from all over--amazing, ha?  I'm amazed, and thrilled.)

As husband Greg was in the New York film business for 25 years (I proudly brag about his Emmy), and still has a finger in some projects, many friends are from the film comunity.  And the problem with this whole party is that my immunological status is so low I can't really be exposed to people.  It's pretty much a closed room, and face masks for now.

So it was going to be very small, which was fine with me, but so many people were excited about our situation, they really wanted to be part of this celebration.

So the film people decided to film the outdoor party, and video it up to my room.  Multiple cameras so I can really feel what's going on.  Either multiple screens in my room, or Editors choosing shots to give me.

Music is being provided by the Music Department, all professionals from New York and LA, from rock, jazz and blues genres, and so there is the whole effort for Sound, with the Sound Board, and sound checks, and mixing it, and sending it to my room.  And then also recording it in case anyone wants to save their effort for the future.

It's very funny because the film people are active/retired, and the youngsters and the old folk have entirely two views of how this should be shot, and then viewed in my room.  And now some of them are actually getting semi-serious about documenting this, and some are reminding others that they are working for free, and on and on.  The words "non-Union" have been spoken in my hearing.  But everyone is still having a good time, so that's what counts.  They just are all so professional when it comes to something connected to their work.

Then there are the people who are organizing the food, and they are also very enjoyable as there are, it seems in most any event, some who need to be "in charge."  I have two friends, one an Executive Chef in a Top New York Restaurant; the other the Director of Nutrition and Food Service for a huge county school district (degree from fancy French cooking school,  MBA from Ivy League, MA in nutrition.)  Each sweetly pushing for the role of boss, each loving me and me loving them and finding this very funny.

The not that funny part is that I can't eat most of the food, but people here at the Boom have helped me find a great Pumpkine Pie Pudding recipe, which I am greatly looking forward to.  And the live videos of my dance friends dancing to the music of these great musicians.  And maybe a kitchen food fight?

We'll see how the documentary issue plays out.  We are not pushing either way--letting the couple of people serving as directors deal with the issue of producer, and quality of the film, and see what the Universe sends on that issue. I'm pretty private on that score, but we'll see.

So it all sounds great, doesn't it?  bonnie

    Bonnie,

This is terrific.  You really have some wonderful friends. Just reading your description I was getting a lump in my throat.  It's times like this that we realize how lucky we are with friends and family.  True friendship, like this, isn't given away freely.  Something tells me that you've been there from them when they needed something and that says a lot about you.

It reminds me that we are all in this together.   We may not always agree, we may have different ways of getting things done, but as long as we are all pulling together, we'll get there eventually.

Enjoy your big event.  Hopefully you can share some of the video at a later time with us.

It all sounds so wonderful.  What an honor, Bonnie, to have all your friends come together and celebrate how much you mean to them.  Not everyone gets to experience this - so how very lucky for you that you get to witness this awesome event.  Wish I could be there to help celebrate.

I hope you have a great day...and am sending positive thoughts your way for improved health.

Thanks for being a part of this community...and for sharing your life with us!

You title is very fitting because that certainly sounds like an amazing event! What great friends you have to come together to spend the holiday with you, even if it's done in such an unconventional and creative way. For them to take the time and effort to put all this together is wonderful. I know I don't have to tell you how truly blessed you are to be surrounded by such a great support system, because just by hearing you speak of them, it's very apparent that you know. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and like everyone else, I hope we get some sort of look at the final outcome!
