    This is appalling:

A severely ill toddler at the center of a legal battle between his parents has died days after his father agreed to switch off his ventilator.

The 13-month-old boy, known as Baby RB, suffered from congenital myasthenic syndrome, a rare genetic condition that means he cannot breathe on his own.

Read the rest of the story here: http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/11/15/uk.baby.dies/index.html

It was a quality of life issue, you know.

    Where is the outrage? Who is objecting to this? . . . . swan . . . .

Wow. I'm not quite sure what to say on this one yet. Maybe I need to let it process first. Definitley a heartwrenching and difficult situation.

You'd have to read the whole article. The father said the baby could play and recognize his parents. They gave him a lethal injection and pulled the plug. I can't even imagine.

I AM! This is a sick and horrible thing and it amounts to murder.

Someone should tell others that disabled people are perfectly capable of having normal lives.

I don't even know what to say..

That's definitley one of the saddest things I have ever heard. I can't imagine being able to do that to my child.

I heard about this baby a couple weeks ago, and I had been following the situation since.  This precious little boy was not given a chance, plain and simple.  I did research about the disorder they stated he had, and there are treatments that can give kids with it a reasonable quality of life.  The 'mother' in this case just didn't care about her child.  And, as it turns out, the father didn't care as much as he first seemed to.  Also, I feel particularly bad for the baby because of the way he died.  They said in the stories I've seen that they were going to give him a sedative injection that would let him 'peacefully' pass away.  Instead, for a couple of days, this little boy suffered, barely able to breathe, until he finally died.  We don't even put down animals in this way, so how the heck can they justify killing a child in this way?!

Tania, how heartbreaking! It really makes me feel sick to think about. I can understand it being hard to watch your child have to go through all that, but who is to say as they grow older they wont find peace and contentment with themselves? Now, no one can say if they will because this baby will never have the chance to find out.
