What do I do? I have had CRPS for 15 years. I also have a fused spine multiple shoulder surgeries for arthritis and numerous other problems. I left work and have been on social security for 6 years. After 2 spinal cord simulators and multiple drug combos, I am doing better. I tried going back to work. Here is my dilema. I like my job and always have. I was a scientist. The current work limit for social security is 960.00 gross a month. I currently receive 2,000 in disability. If I continue to work 4 days a month, the minimum the job will allow and the most I can handle, I am over the 960.00 limit by 200.00, but that is all I can handle. I cannot afford to give up 2,000 for 1160.00. It's actually more than that, because the job requires special licenses and travel expense adding another 200.00 a month to the cost of working plus wear and tear on my car. I would actually lose at least 1100.00 a month and have to tolerate more pain. I just like working with my old friends and make too much per hour. They have to pay me for the job done at that level. I thinks its unfair that social security will stop me from working in a few months. The extra isn't huge, but lets me live in my own home without any govenment extra assiatance. If I continue working, I would need food, utilitiy, and other assistace as my 700.00 house payment and 300.00 fees would leave me nothing for food, utilities or insurance. What do other people do?.

     icanfran,

I am on SSD, because I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. I would never make it with my SSD if I didn't have a husband that has a good job and decent pay. I am not able to work at all.

I wanted to reply to you, so you didn't feel ignored. I really don't have an answer for you. I wish I did and I pray that everything works out. Maybe you could find a roommate. Have you thought about that? You could also talk to your utilities suppliers and see if there is something that could be done to budget your payments. I really hope you stick around here at Disaboom, because maybe someone will be able to come up with something that can help you.

    Take Care, Sandy
