Have you or someone you know suffered from a stroke?
The University of South Carolina’s Physical Therapy Program is currently seeking individuals with chronic deficits from stroke for participation in a mobility and balance study using video gaming, specifically the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 2 Eye Toy.
Virtual Environment Rehabilitation (VEHAB) refers to a treatment program for improvement of balance, mobility, and fear of falling in individuals following a stroke. VEHAB therapy includes one-on-one training for 1 hour a day, 4 days a week for 5 weeks with evaluations performed at the outset, immediately after, and again at three months post-intervention.
There is NO charge for this therapy.
Criteria to participate include:
Greater than 6 months following a stroke
Ability to walk 10 feet with or without assistance
Be able to participate in 1 hour of therapy, 4 days a week for 5 weeks
Be at least 18 years of age
