Well then I will add another chapter in Princess' book and include about access. In our case I have to be extra careful entering doors and going down isles because she can not see to move her head. She rides between my legs on my scooter. Since she is blind access becomes a different issue other than just for me.I can't afford for a door to come back and hit her in the face or a box in the isle to slap her in the face. Sometimes she puts her head under my basket and looks as if she is looking but she IS blind. The retinas detached because of emesis from that bad dog food damaging her kidneys in 2007. She had just had cataract surgery so her eyes were sensitive. Her book will be out soon. I need to decide on the book cover. The book has been written looking through her eyes, using her voice in other words. It will be educational.

Good for you. A well though out, well written book based on the authors personal experiences can be very influential in changing and reshaping people`s attitudes and beliefs.

Tom Payne`s COMMON SENSE  comes ro mind. So does THE ORIGIN OF THE SPECIES  by Charles Darwin.Harriet Beecher Stowe`s UNCLE TOM`S CABIN  comes to mind. Supposedly when President Abraham Lincoln got to meet Mrs. Stowe  he said something to the effect that " it is a great pleasure to finally  meet the little lady who started this great war". Since Lincoln was well known for his sense of humor and witty conversation it is entirely possible taht he did say that.

When you get your book published, I believe I`d like to buy a copy.I really appreciate good literature.

Keep up the good work and let us know when your book is going to be available.Thanks.Yes                                                                                    ollie

I came, I saw, I didn`t get out of there unscathed.

Yes, going through the store first is usually the fastest and easiest way, but some people do not like confronting people and most store managers/owners that I have met got annoyed that I would even suggest that their store was not accessable.  Then there is places like the Subway right down the street from me, the owner listened to me and made it accessable up to the cash register but that was it!  The way it is set up it is a loop where you get the drinks after you pay so I can not get to the soda machine plus after I pay I have to get everyone behind me to back out so I can back out of the isle.  She calls that accessable?

As for the dog's book cover, I would do a plain background that contrasts the dog's color (I.E., if the dog is tan then a red or maroon background) and just have the dog's head with a pair of sunglasses like Ray Charles on her.

Thanks for the laugh. I love your idea and having been a professional clown it's right up my alley. I'll look for some sunglasses that will fit her well enough for a photo shoot. And too, I just might sit her on my scooter in front of my piano keyboard. LOL I have a picture of her sitting on my office chair in front of my computer giving me an I dare you look. It's one of those it's high time you spend time with me and less time on this keyboard that doesn't make music and you and me make a little music together kind of looks. She rarely even barks or makes a noise but she did that day.

Princess is what most vets call red but not  really red. She isn't tan either. She is more like a light auburn. I will work with colors to get the best color that brings out her features. After all I worked as a photographer and I am an artist besides being a writer. I appreciate your suggestions. I REALLY appreciate the idea of the sunglasses.

I am appalled at the problem with you not being able to have full access after going through the process of having the issue supposedly corrected. The general public just does not understand what access is or what ADA access is. Put hand rails up and that is access. I don't think so.

Maybe we should make a store manager use our scooter or power chair even for 10 minutes and see what happens. Oh I am laughing because my scooter will go 5mph. I can see a store manager cutting a wheely the first time on it and running into everything.

    Thanks again. ;-)

Princess' book is  now online at http://www.lulu.com   it is in paperback and sells for $25.00 plus shipping. The name of the book is Princess and the Caterfly   I wrote it from my dog's point of view. She is now blind and also a cancer survivor. There are a lot of pictures in the book plus a few sketches. The photos are mine as are the sketches. The book is both educational as well as entertainiing. It includes the ADA information at the back of the book. Princess is a seizure alert dog as some of you already know. Even though she is blind she can still do her job. I depend on her nose and she depends on my eyes. The cover on the book is as suggested by a member in here. She is wearing sunglasses so it is a Ray Charles cover picture on the front. The back picture is her on my red scooter. The cover picture is also the first picture you see when you open the book. Thanks so much for that suggestion. Princess posed about twenty minutes for those pictures which I also took those myself too. The book will be available at amazon and barnes and noble soon but for now it is at  lulu.com, the publisher.
