I need to lose 10lbs in two weeks but need to do it fairly safely. Any helpful suggestions on what to eat/do would be great.

hi nicki, it's nice to meet you and welcome.

i'm a vegetarian and my advice would be cut out white sugars and white flours. eat lots of veggies and fruits. grain breads, lowfat foods. baked chicken if you eat meat no fried foods. exchange plain or nonfat greek yogart instead of sour cream.(on nacho's are great and dips). don't deprive yourself of comfort foods, go online and look up healthier versions of what you like if you are looking for longterm choices of ways to eat healthier.i also use applesauce instead of oils in baking cakes and browniesand you can't tell the difference. drink water with lemon, soda water instead of sodas. cut down in places that you won't notice much like oils and butters in cooking, they all add up. i hope this helps some.  Cool

    love debbie xoxo :)

Niky,My husband is a diabetic. I am not, but went on the diabetic diet with him about 5 years ago. We both lost weight. Get the South Beach Diet book, the blue one, and go on Phase 1 of the diet for two weeks. Follow it to the letter. You'll lose the weight. The first two days it doesn't seem like you are losing, and then all of a sudden, it will drop off. If you want to keep it off permanently, go on to phase 2, and then to the maintenance level. You'll learn a whole new way to eat and it will become a lifestyle, much healthier. Of course, it involves time in the kitchen. I was born in the south, where we cooked lots of fried foods and ate pecan pies and GOOD food. Now, its baked or steam, olive oil, etc. I just reinvented my old recipes to cook differently. Good luck.

p.s. i've searched for the old link about recipies and i can't find them. maybe you would like to make great soups loaded with vitamins. heres one i make and love

all organic cream of cauliflour soup

     2 lge cauliflower

    4 celery sticks

    1 onion

    1/2 cup uncooked brown rice

    1/4 cup nutritional brewers yeast

    spike

6 repunzel sea salt and herbs vegetarian bullion cubes

1/2  cup grated parmesan cheese/ 1/2cup of sharp cheddar

just put everything in a big pan and fill a little higher than you can see the vegetables.

i just throw in the spike, don't measure. about 4 good tips in lol

after it is boiling put on med/low heat and cook for about an hr

i add the cheese towards the end and have used just parmesan and just cheddar and both taste good.

    blend until smooth.

the key i find is that the boullion cubes are great tasting. i get then at wholefoods or any healthfood store.

    good luck
