Emma....I'm so sorry for your situation. There's something I don't understand though. You say you've been barred..........from working......and for anyone ? By whom ? Who has the right to do that ? barred from working by who? ......... dont let people tell youthat SEE IF GOODWILL HAS AN ASSESSMENT AND /OR TRIANING PROGRAM...... ........... go to the libray and look for possible jobs. show what assitance you need to be able then go to ask for help............ .......... ......... also most junior colleges have rentry programs for adults specail offiCe for disabiilty issues. Even if its mid semester you can ask questions and get info.. ...................... Have you gone to your STATE department of VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION? ....... ........ HAVE A plan - then ask for help.

This is not an comprehensible response. I was asking how you are getting a full ride scholarship. I'm 55 so I haven't been able to find anything that would pay for any living expenses for someone in my age group. I have a great deal of education and experience, so I don't really need more "education". What I need is a way to survive. Apparently the scholarships are all for the young, and it seems that Obama is concentrating on them, exclusively, as well.

The library has nothing to do with jobs.

I have tried to register with the Workforce in several towns. They wouldn't even list me at first, because they only have jobs for "abled" persons. I reminded them that they are getting federal monies to help the disabled. In the two and a half years since I've been fired, I have gotten one job vacancy sent to me. This was a job for the government, and since I have been fired from a government job, because of "disability", I'm BARRED from that job(and ALL government jobs). Of course, the government will hire a PWD if you are able to pass a medical that says you a "able" (Schedule A, I believe). A person would be "disabled" anymore, would he? Yes, they discriminate against the disabled all of the time.

Please look at the comments that I have submitted to this thread. YES, I have been denied any help whatsoever, from the VR. And, again, I was only informed of this after paying for all of their worthless and required "steps". They denied me any help because I don't have enough income to qualify for any help, whatsoever, from them. My life savings have been depleted by this.

Since, I live hundreds of miles from any colleges, I have called all of them within four states. They have no help for PWD. They know nothing about full ride scholarships for PWD.

Goodwill has no help.

My plan is to find a way to survive. I'm not getting anywhere from that. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS AT ALL - because I'm in need of that.

Again, I have no trouble finding employers that are advertising jobs. The problem is that they will not hire a person with a "severe" disability. Of course, the government encourages us to lie about the disability. This is not possible for me. What do you do when they find out that you have lied? The employer has the right to fire you for lying. The government forced me to get this disability designation, and fired me because of it and most of the applicantions that I've seen say that. I did not quit. I did not try to get a disability designation. Again, I was doing a good job. I was only fired because of the disability, my coworkers could see it and there were uncomfortable with it. Of course, this is illegal. The EEOC would not do anything because this is a "right-to-work" state and this enables the employer to fire anyone for anything even if you have the wrong color, or if you have the wrong sex, or even "if you wore the wrong socks to work". I can't think of a lie to tell a prospective employer to hide these easily found facts. Can you?

I have contacted thousands of employers in my field. I haven't received a single response.

Therefore, I'm seeking a viable, living wage, HOME job or business, not involving the telephone. IS THERE NO WAY TO SURVIVE? IS ANYONE IN THIS POSITION?

Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.

sorry on my typos- if you are claimed to be too disabled to work for more than a year then you can get ssi or ssdi . why didnt yoU get legal help ? why didnt you get on state disabilty. if you were terminated for being too disabled to work . Something seems wrong. talk to a disability lawyer and emplyemnt lawyer and see if tits not too late to repair some. I f voc reahb says they cant help you you can appeal CALL YOU R LOCAL INDEPENDANT LIVNG CENTER AND GET A cap advocate. not all of them are good, but i hope you will try.................. http://www.ilru.org/html/publications/directory/index.html ...................... you should be able to get on some supports and then maybe they will help. i dont understand why you couldn't do student loans or grants ................ people who have certain disabilities and are between 40 -65 have the hardest time getting help to be able in the system. i'm sorry you're here too................ ........................... IF VOC REAHB TOLD YOU TO LIE ABOUT YOUR DISABILITY PLEASE REPORT IT............... also ........VERY FEW AT HOME JOBS ARE REAL.... SOME PEOPLE DO MAKE MONEY SELLING THINGS ON EBAY....... I DONT KNOW WHAT YOuR SKILLS ARE . WHAT EXPERiENCE YOU HAD OR WHAT TO yOU is a living wage or where you are in the country. THESE ARE ALL FACTORS. YOU MUST BE STRESSED AND DEPRESSED BY ALL OF THIS SOME PLACES HAVE mentAl health programs that help disabled get/find work. too. ITS ANOTHER IDEA MAY OR MAY NOT WORK IN YOUR AREA........ best of luck.

Yes, I have contacted the Independant Living Center. I don't know where you live, but here the have NO HELP. They have told me that have a little help for the developmental disabled, which I don't qualify for.

I did contact the CAP advocate, several times. This has been a long time ago, they told me that they would contacted the VR again. They have done nothing. I have also contacted all of the worthless government agencies in the phonebook. I have found no help, from any of them.

Yes, I can get SSDI, if I were to give away my home to the medical industry and I will lose the tiny "benefit" that I've able to get. I don't know if this SSDI "benefit" would be protected. I would still be without enough money to live on and with the SSDI, I will be homeless. This is not help. It would be worse for me. Aside, yes, their are many lawyers who are profiting on the disabled. Again, this doesn't help. 

I'm cold, I'm tired, I'm hungry, and yes, I'm extremely stressed. But I'm still not so stupid to quit and die!!!

Again, how are you getting enough money to live on from a scholarship? PLEASE give me the details.

I started this thread way back whenever it was.  I don't think I've been here for nearly a year or maybe more.  I am not surviving.  I am now living in a new town again and this time because a friend opened her doors and arms to me.  I still have nothing after losing everything due to this disability.  Emma, I know what you are saying.  The SSA would have caused my homelessness if not for my elderly mother and 1 true friend.  4 1/2 years now playing this game with the SSA.  Funny those I know who have some little something wrong in their body and get approved for SSD right away and I do know 2 of those people are able to work.  Here I am still willing to work at home by my own schedule and here I am still after checking into many online jobs.  One not so long ago sounded legit and would have worked but since I need my own proofreader for what I write how in the world could I be a proofreader for someone else.  Back before FMS, CFS and all the junk in my spine affected my cognitive functioning and memory I would have been the perfect proofreader.  Back when I did not NEED an online job.  Still no answers so perhaps there is no answer.  I just feel fortunate to have shelter, food and transportation.  Though, I feel like a charity case.

Good to hear from you on Disaboom!  You know you are welcome here anytime you feel like checking in.  You are a valued friend.  I'm glad you are in a happier situation with your friend.  It seems like it has been a good move for you.  Sure wish you had the perfect job that you can do at home come your way.  Some call centers like to outsource to people who work  from their homes (as opposed to outsourcing to another country!)  Maybe it is a matter of connecting with the right people.  I know what you mean about being able to work your own hours.....I  think I know exactly what you mean.  I also understand about the way the disability has changed the quality of your life.  My best to you and others who are in your similar situation.  Valerie

 Hi Valerie : )..........Thanks for the quick response in welcoming me back lol.  It has been a good move no doubt mostly due to the stress free environment and the compatibility of our personalities.  I never did not feel welcome here just hung out at different sites and meanwhile got terribly addicted to youtube.  You are a valued friend to me. : )
