I’ve always thought trench coats were sexy. Not the Trench Coat Mafia kind. The Dick Tracy kind; the Carmen San Diego kind (only in a less harsh shade of red). And I don’t have to say that sitting all the time is not conducive to stylishly wearing a trench coat. Where do you expect all that extra fabric (that creates the length) to go when you transfer, shift, and move in your seat all day? It ends up looking unseemly, and it definitely looks nothing like what a trench coat should.

Since I was a young teen at the time of my injury and never got to live out my dream of making the trench coat the signature piece of clothing in my wardrobe, I’ve always felt jilted. Who knew Izzy Camilleri, a high fashion designer from Toronto, Canada, who’s designed clothes for the likes of Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie, would be the person who’d make my dream come true?

Look at her brand-new IZ: Izzy Camilleri Adaptable Clothing collection, a collection of everyday women’s clothing designed for the seated-body. Her clothes are stunning and innovative (albeit a tad, ok really, expensive). But hey, this is a haute couture designer, people. You don’t get duds created by someone like this for cheap.

So as I discovered this afternoon (omgz) she even designed a TRENCH COAT specifically tailored to the seated-body. This means her trench design essentially mimics the look of the trench in the front, but completely gets rid of the usual trench fabric that would’ve been on the underside of the coat, and below. It’s a brilliant idea. Click here to view her collection (click "collection." the trench is located in the bottom row).

The coat costs $195. So here’s my genius plan since it’s out of my budget right now: Wait until my birthday passes, hopefully collect some cash, and then I’ll buy this badass jacket (in black) and wear it like it’s an unremovable chastity belt.

I highly recommend you visit her site and oogle like me. And make sure you have a croissant and coffee in hand to fully get into the window shopping experience: IZ: Izzy Camilleri Adaptable Clothing

The coat is so cute! "...and wear it like it's an unremovable chastity belt." Hilarious! You'll have to...just because of the price tag. It will be totally worth it...and I know you'll totally rock it!

Loved this Tiffiny! Actually when you think about the cost - if you were to go with Burberry Prorsum for example - it's almost $3000. They have a superb collection at www.net-a-porter.com and if you have a sugar-daddy, healthy trust fund or are independently wealthy, go crazy. For the rest of us, paying $200 for the perfect sitting trench is a total bargain. I paid about $200 (second-hand) almost 15 years ago for a trench. It wasn't that badass and I don't have it any longer. You owe it to yourself to scrimp and save to get that coat before she no longer has it. You'll be badass and fabulous!

Tiff, this is great! Thanks for sharing. I have always wanted a trench coat (and in a bright color). I see stylist women wearing bright green, yellow, or orange trench coats and am always jealous. I just wish I could try one of these on to see how good they really look,.. trying to imagine.
