I’m always a sucker for gifts, so Garvey Rich over at Functional Comfort must be psychic. You see, as a blogger (if you’re semi-popular or moreso), there’s this bad ass phenomenon of receiving free things in the mail from companies, with an end goal (on their part) that I’ll blog about their said product in a positive light. Free advertising yo.
So when I received 4 pairs of leg warmers and 2 pairs of arm warmers in the mail from the people at Function Comfort, I must say I felt I’ve moved up in the eschelon of blogger-dom. This is the first time a company has ever sent me free products, and MAN….*does a little happy dance*. It. Is. Awesome.
So at first glance, I wasn’t quite sure how the realm of disability and the business of selling leg and arm warmers were connected, but after checking-out their site I realized their pitch: To help people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities stay warm. Because, hey, afterall, people with SCI are notorious for being freeze babies. And
what better way to regulate our body temps than by keeping our extremities covered in a stylish way?
I think it’s brilliant.
Functional Comfort is based in Bronx, NYC, and have been selling their products to dancers for years (under a different name, KD Dance), but they’re now expanding their target-niche and have launched a website targeting people with disabilities. They sell 4 different lengths of leg warmers: 14 inch knit ($20), 24 inch knit ($22), 36 inch knit ($25), and 16 inch stretch ($9.99). They also have 14 colors to choose from, including BUBBLE GUM PINK! (my fav, which I have in the 36 inch knit version).
As for their arm warmers, they come in 16 inch stretch knit ($9.99) with 10 colors to choose from, and 16 inch cashmere ($30) with 7 colors to choose from. Garvey sent me two pairs of the knit stretch arm warmers, in black and in marine. I love them to death. A lot.
After playing around with my goodie bag of leg and arm warmers since receiving them last week, I must say that wearing them has become quite addictive. Not only are they easy to put on (both the leg and arm warmers are), they’re also a wicked fashion statement. And YES - they really do keep me warm. And I especially love the edginess the arm warmers give to my look.
So there you have it. I give the sassy leg and arm warmers over at Functional Comfort two resounding thumbs up (and not just because they gave me their product for free). I would without a doubt order from them in the future. Their colors are totally unique (these colors are hard to find in most stores), and their crazy long 36 inch knit style is so ridiculous that they’re just about the coolest leg warmers I’ve ever owned.
