You know what I miss about Kindergarten? A brand-new box of crayons being the world's most exciting gift. Even the boxes with only twelve were like an extra Christmas morning every time my mother came home from the grocery store with a pack of Crayolas. I loved to feel the sharp, flat points of new crayons, and then draw the first line with each color. New crayons were the height of luxury.

Then, when I got a little older, it was colored pencils. I loved to keep them extra-sharp to color in little details like eyes and buttons on clothing. I always saved my favorite dark violet color for the most extra-special pictures.

Have you ever recycled your old crayons? You can make your own chunky crayons by melting them in an old muffin tin. Put enough pieces in each hole and fill an electric skillet with an inch or so of water. Place the tin in the water and let the magic begin.....melted crayons becoming new bigger, chunky crayons! Or, I have enjoyed mixing my colors in an old metal coffee can with some parafin wax and making candles. (Use the same skillet!) You may have inspired me to use up some of the odds and ends of crayons I just couldn't throw out! Thanks Nebby for the link! Somehow, I missed this one! lol

Thanks Saydrah.......for the reminder of when I used to melt the colors in a tin.......then paint a picture on stretched cotton cloth.........then let it dry......cracked it and put the whole thing in a cold water dye bath.........ironed out the wax between two pieces of paper towels.........and wallah ! A batik painting........ready to be stretched........framed.......and put on a wall somewhere.......to be seen by all !.........The pictures are a wonderful reminder of those times.........some of the happiest of my life. Thanks !..........peace and love.......Norma

I'm just stunned. I love these images. I'm a simple person, and I appreciate the simple content, composure, lighting, elegance. I don't know that I like one best. Are any prints or digital images for sale? Thank you for sharing. ~ Lizz
