I love mutts. In fact, I have two of my own: A Corgi/Border Collie mix and a Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix. It makes me sad when people pay lots of money for "designer dogs" from backyard breeders when dogs just as cute, and from parents just as mismatched, are available for adoption at shelters and rescues. So, I've collected 10 very odd mixed-breeds waiting for adoption right now. Hopefully soon most of these dogs will be adopted, and I can do another post like this!
1. Sophie the Corgi/Pug Mix

Maybe it's the eyebrows, or the bat ears, or the weight problem, but I think Sophie is adorable, even if she does look sort of like a fat miniature gargoyle. She's waiting for you in a foster home in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Find out how to adopt Sophie here!
2. Chesnut the Mastiff/Shar Pei Mix

Who could look at a face like that without falling in love? This baby will have some serious wrinkles when she grows up, but if you don't mind a little drool, you can meet Chesnut (misspelled name and all) in Aurora, Colorado. Find out how to bring her home here!
3. Thelma the Catahoula/Rottweiler Mix

Why so serious? Thelma looks like a jester to me in this photo. I bet she'll make her new owner laugh every day! If you're looking for a new companion in Denver, Colorado, Thelma might fit the bill-- learn more here.
4. Rachelle the Lhasa Apso/Dachshund Mix

If she were a boy, Rachelle might have been better named "Harry," with that out of control topknot! It's been shaved off to save her the pain of tangles pulling on her skin, and she's ready to find a new home with someone who loves shaggy little long doggies. She's in Hastings, Nebraska. Take a closer look here.
5. Jeffy the Poodle/Basset Hound Mix

Jeffy could do with a bath and a haircut, but I bet he'll still be pretty funny looking when he's clean, with those short legs and that silly beard! Located in Tucson, Arizona, Jeff's just waiting for the perfect person who will be okay with hearing, "What kind of dog is that?" several times during every walk. Get more information on adopting Jeffy here.
6. Little Richie the Chihuahua/Papillon Mix

Little Richie and his adorably wavy coat are seeking a new place to nap. Those little pork chop legs are too cute! Little Richie's currently located in Dodge City, Kansas. If you think you can help him get out of Dodge-- or at least, out of the shelter-- click here.
7. Ceciel the Mastiff/Basset Hound Mix

Have you ever seen a dog quite this long? Ceciel has a lot of belly, and he'd like you to know that it will all need rubbing at least twice every day, please! If you think you're up to the task, you can find Ceciel in Saint Louis, Missouri. Learn more here.
8. Leroy the Chinese Crested/Schnauzer Mix

Leroy might be pretty silly looking as-is, but he really dodged a bullet: Most Chinese Crested dogs are hairless except for their faces, tails, and legs! Can you imagine him with a bald body? If you could see yourself waking up to this sweet face begging for breakfast every morning, just head to Vernon Texas to meet Leroy. More information here.
9. Chico the Rottweiler/Basset Hound Mix

Chico is half big dog, half long dog, but I bet he's all heart! Just look at that sweet face, and the tail almost as long as his body. Chico's waiting for a home in Golden, Colorado. Got room for one more? Find out more about Chico here.
10. Harry the Dachshund/Collie Mix

Ok, he's cute and all, but Lassie + Weiner Dog? How did that happen? Wait, scratch that, I don't want to know. What I do know is, Harry's waiting for a forever home in Spearfish, South Dakota. If you think he might be your perfect match, give this link a click and find out more.
