Today's Blogging
101 topic is: the second part in how
to add photos to your Disaboom blog posts. See Part 1 for how to upload your
photos to Disaboom.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then adding one or
two can really enhance your posts! Using photos enable your readers to, in a
sense, meet you in another way, besides through the written word. Sharing a
photo offers your readers a little more insight into who you are, your story
and how you function in your world.
Hang on, here we go!
Step 1: Go
to My Photos in your profile and
select the photo you would like to use.

Step 2: This step is the
trickiest. It entails copying the location (or URL) of your photo which you
will then insert into your post. The way to do this will depend on the internet
browser you are using. The instructions for Internet Explorer and Firefox are
provided here.
If you are using Internet Explorer, right click your
mouse on your photo to bring up a menu. Choose Properties from the menu. When the Properties box pops up,
highlight the URL with your mouse and copy, using either Ctrl+C or right
clicking and selecting. Temporarily paste this URL into a word processor (i.e.
Notepad or Word). You will need this URL in Step 5.

Obtaining Your Photo URL in Internet Explorer
If you are using Firefox, right click your mouse on
your photo to bring up a menu. Choose Copy
Image Location from the menu. Temporarily paste this URL into a word
processor (i.e. Notepad or Word). You will need this URL in Step 5.

Obtaining Your Photo URL in Firefox
Important: You need the specific URL for the photo
rather than the URL in the address bar at the top of your internet browser.
Trust me! I'm learned this the hard way.
The worst is over! Honest.
Step 3:
Begin writing your post. (Refer to Writing
Your First Disaboom Blog Post on how to get started.)
Step
4: Place your cursor at the point you would like to insert your photo
and click Insert/edit image from the
tool bar.

Step
5: Copy the photo URL that's in your word processor and paste into Image URL.
Step
6: Type a brief description into Image
description. Imagine you are describing the photo to someone on the phone.
How would you briefly describe it.
Step
7: Choose the Alignment.
This controls how the photo is position in relation to the text.
When using photos in blog posts, the two most commonly used
alignments are Left and Right. The Blogging 101 graphic at the top of this post
is floated left. The small graphic in this paragraph is floated right.
You may need to play with the alignment to get your photo
where you want it.
Step
8: If you wish to resize your photo, type the size in Dimension. Otherwise, leave the two
boxes empty and Disaboom automatically enters the information.
Step 9: If
you wish to have a black border around your photo, enter its thickness in Border.
Step 10: If
you chose an alignment of Left or Right in Step 7, you can control the amount
of spacing above and below your image. Enter the amount in Vertical space. Otherwise, leave the box empty.
Step 11: If
you chose an alignment of Left or Right in Step 7, you can control the amount
of spacing to the left and right of your image. Enter the amount in Horizontal space. Otherwise, leave the
box empty.
Step 12:
Click Insert and continue writing
your post.
You now have a blog post with a photo! Congrats!
