Getting up in the morning is one of the toughest things I do most days. Leaving
my warm, cozy bed takes an inordinate amount of will power. Although, these
days, Mother Nature calling loudly doesn't permit me to mumble "Just five
more minutes" repeatedly - one sucky side effect of getting older.
Once I do drag my bootie out of bed, there are seven things that minimize
frustration and aggravation until I am fully awake and can better deal with
aggravating frustrations:
- Grab bars in the bathroom. Fortunately, installing two grab bars and laying
hardwood floors throughout the place were the only modifications needed to make
it adequately accessible for us.
- Elasticized waist pants. Flies and buttons simply don't work for me. But,
finding these pants, other than in the mature women's department, is becoming
more and more difficult.
- Shoes with Velcro. No Manolo Blahniks here!
- MaxFresh Colgate gel with a flip open top. Forget trying to unscrew and
re-screw a small cap twice a day. What a waste of time!
- Straws, of course!
- The peanut butter lid loosely placed on the jar. The lid isn't going anywhere! Why does it need to be screwed on tightly?
- iPod with speakers. Hit shuffle and I have my own radio station that really does play all of my favourites! No more fumbling with CDs and broken jewel cases.
Once I'm up and going, I am fine until the next morning when
Mother Nature kicks me out of bed again.
What gets you going in the morning? What makes your morning easier?
