Following a free concert by political rockers Rage Against the Machine, thousands of young protesters are marching on the Pepsi Center, outside the designated protest zones and without a permit. The march is led by Iraq veterans, and seeks an answer from the Democratic Party to the veterans' petition, which demands an end to the war in Iraq, benefits for veterans, and payments to the Iraqi people.
I'm inside the Pepsi Center, and though the march is only a couple of miles away now and protesters have so far not been arrested due to outnumbering the police greatly, most delegates and guests seem unaware of the march's existence and the gauntlet they may run as they leave if police don't keep the marchers away from the Pepsi Center.
Update: A source on the ground says the marchers have been stopped and herded into the "First Amendment Zone" before reaching the Pepsi Center.
