The Autistic Self-Advocacy Network and over a dozen other disability advocacy organizations have released a statement urging advertisers to withdraw financial support from Talk Radio Networks in the wake of inflammatory comments by talk show host Michael Savage. On his nationally syndicated radio show, Savage insisted that people with autism are, "Brats, frauds, morons, putzes," and more. In addition, consumers are encouraged to boycott companies which do not withdraw advertising from Talk Radio Network.

Ari Ne'eman of the Autistic Self Advocacy Network said in a letter printed by the AAPD, "We urge you to use the information below to write, call and e-mail these sponsors and tell them why it is imperative they join companies like Aflac and Telesouth Communication that have already pulled their ads in response to these hateful remarks. There are over 50 million people with disabilities in the United States with approximately $200 billion in disposable income. It is time for us to make our voices heard."

Savage crossed the line if in fact these comments are in context. I have not heard the conversation, but as a parent of a mentally disabled child, it would be my pleasure to allow Mr. Savage to come and test his theory in my situation.

I accept the position of Talk Radio Network and that Mr Savage.s comments are being manipulated out of context by Media Matters. Folks need to take the time to review the Networks's message and Mr Savage's views on autisim by visiting http://www.savageonautism.com/.
