I am not in a wheelchair at present, but there have been times in my life where I have been and I have never given up my connection with nature. With some forethought and planning and hopefully some good friends, you can enjoy the outdoor life style as much as the next person. For me, experiencing nature is a spiritual experience and it is what keeps me from going off the deep end on those difficult day, month, years! Please give yourself that gift.....I will say a little prayer for you....Namaste, Ahmelia

Re: “Rolling” in California—part 2

Buckwalter was interviewed this week for Psychology Today in an article titled "Can we talk about disability?" He's a funny guy.

Re: Standout or camouflage?

Hi there!

ShondaMc, it would be nice to try going *really* incognito for a little bit. I understand what you mean about always being a "stand"out --(funny choice of words!)

Flower, yay that you worked up the courage for posting! I love finding comments on my Disaboom blog. The Vibe hearing aid looks cool to me.

Thanks again for your input!

I just realized that I was camouflaging!!! I have multiple disabilities but look at me people always say;"...hmm, you're disabled???" Looks are definitely deceiving. I am more than 85% hearing impaired. What a marvelous idea that Siemens has come up with...and one that I never would of thought of...but now I do embrace that idea of standing out; no longer hiding my disability but expressing to the whole darn world., yep I am courageously living my life. Thank you so much for the inspiration!

Re: Standout or camouflage?

--Nice post.

To answer your question, I use a wheelchair, so I am always "standing" out. However, I wouldn't mind learning what it would be like to "camouflage" for an hour or two. :)

Re: Extraordinary for an extraordinary reason

Hi, Cary!

Has anyone seen his display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I work for Positively Cleveland, and we're getting the word out about the Rock Hall. I highly encourage all music fans (and especially Stevie Wonder fans) to check it out. You can start on our website: http://www.positivelycleveland.com/visiting/things_to_do/cleveland_rocks/rock_hall. There are a lot of awesome upcoming events so it's totally worth looking into!

Hope I haven't overstepped my bounds by leaving this comment; just working to let people know about what Cleveland has to offer! If you have any questions or concerns feel free to Email me :)
