I am finding this site very difficult and convoluted for finding what I want to find.  I'm a smart person, but unfortunately, I seem to be having a lot of difficulty figuring out how to do the things I want to do..

Like..I've posted a reply on a thread.. can't seem to find where that thread is ANYwhere.  I have a couple of people I see, whom I'm particularly interested in seeing their posts, but don't see a way to quickly set/follow their blogs (I'm sure there is a way, but for a very newbie--it is no where near blatantly obvious how to do these things).  I'm finding it difficult to find & follow info and am not feeling like I'll ever figure it out without a lot of pain and frustration!  I'm kind of venting--I know--because I can't figure out how to do those things I'd like to do.. and for a site for persons with disabilities, I'd hope it'd be easier to find my way around!

     SIGH..

    Frustrated..

Oh, and if you do reply to this message.. could you send me an email and tell me how to find it again?  Not ALL posts seem to show up in my personal "blog" feed.. As I can't find other threads I've replied to and they don't show up in the list--although many do.

THANKS for helping me figure out where in the world I am or where I am supposed to be!! :-D

    Hi Sandy,

First, welcome to Disaboom!  Second, sorry it's driving you crazy!  It does take some time to learn all the ins-and-outs of our website, primarily because there are so many features, options and content included.

The Community section of the site is where you can connect with other Members and share information via Discussion Forums, Blogs and Chat Room.  There are many options included that will allow you to "track" the activity of each type of user-generated content.

I'm glad to hear that you've discovered the My Feed (feedlist) feature on your "My Disaboom" page.  I like that feature but I also rely on receiving e-mail notifications to track certain activity.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's how the Automated Email Notification system works regarding Discussion Forums:

When you reply to a Discussion Topic (thread), the system will send you an Automated Email Notification.  A link to the topic will be included in the e-mail.  Save this e-mail.  If another member replies to that topic after you, you will receive a new e-mail notification of that activity.

If you want to post another reply, click on the link in the e-mail notification and you'll be routed directly to that topic on the site.  So you don't necessarily have to remember where Topics reside because you'll always be able to link back to it from the e-mail notification.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adding Members, Blogs, and Articles to your List of Favorites:

When you view a member's profile, there is an option to add that member as a "friend."  When you view a blog, blog entry or article, there will be a button to add that content to your Favorites.  You can view everything on your favorites list by going to your "My Disaboom" page and clicking on the "Manage My Favorites" button in the control menu on the left side.

Once you have added a member to your friend/favorites list, the "My Feed" list will be updated to reflect that member's activity, such as replying to a Discussion Topic or posting a new Blog.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Subscriptions to Discussion Forums:

You can also sign up to receive automated e-mail notifications for all content posted in a particular Discussion Forum.  For example, I have subscriptions to the "Multiple Sclerosis" Forum and the "Give Us Your Feedback" Forum.  So when you started this thread in the Feedback Forum, I received an Automated Email Notification of that activity.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, some people express frustration with receiving so many e-mail notifications.  So I strongly recommend that you don't use your primary e-mail address on your Disaboom account.  For example, I have a Yahoo! account that is used exclusively for tracking Disaboom activity.  I do not use my primary personal or business e-mail addresses.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Note:  We are in the process of redesigning Disaboom.com to make it more user-friendly and incorporate the framework for additional features.  As you navigate the site, please note which features could use improvement and come back here to the "Give Us Your Feedback" forum to post your ideas.

Here's a link to the "Give Us Your Feedback" forum.  You can put a shortcut to this forum on your desktop or add it as a favorite in your browser for quick and easy access:

So please don't get too frustrated.  Hang in there, take your time, and you'll be comfortable before you know it.  We're happy you've joined us and want you to stay for a long time!!

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, Lily!  After reading your email, I saved it! Previously, I just deleted the emails and figured I could read them here.. but then couldn't find them.

I've made myself a folder and a filter to automatically route Disaboom emails to a place where I can find them.  I'm going to refer to your email often!

THANK YOU so much.. I hope to be finding my way around well soon! ;-)

I am so glad that I found this post.  I joined quite a while ago, but everytime I come here, I just get confused and frustrated.  I can't seem to find anything.  The info will help me a lot, but I do think that the site should provide a site guide on the home page for newbies.  A tutorial in an obvious place would be wonderful.

Great thread, sandy KC. Been here since may still working things out.tried to vote for based on yr essay but 40 minutes later that site was still asking for 1 additional piece of info, and my computer, quirky at best, decided to disconnect.

I did see you like photography. I`m assuming digital? I`m lost with digital camera but was fairly good with film SLR,  4 lenses, x-tra body, even photod about 18 weddingsof family , friends, no charge - they supplied me with Kodak  400 speed film, processing their responsibility.Lot of work ,especially 4 wedding guest -not unusual to be busy 12 hrs that day- was glad to help them save $ till eyes, back, right leg, even fingers stopped cooperating. Last one in 2006, Whew. Decided that was last one for me., took 3 days to recover from exertion. found out clumsy hands may be due to PD in addition just Arthur Itis, sigh!

BTW, while you avatar is cute, the photo of real you  is better. Seems you`ve been through some very rough times, suvived and are all right now. Best wishes to you.   ollie

I came, I saw, I didn`t get out of there unscathed.
