Izzy Camilleri, a Toronto-based fashion designer, has designed clothes for A-list celebrities from David Bowie to Nicole Kidman. And this month she introduced her IZ Adaptive Clothing line, a reasonably priced adapted clothing line for women who use wheelchairs. Adapted clothing has never been more affordable.

This latest collection is Izzy’s second line for women with disabilities. Her first line, The Iz Collection of Adaptable Clothing, debuted latest year and features custom-made pieces. IZ Adaptive Clothing meanwhile features ready-to-wear clothing which allow her to charge much less, which will surely perk up the ears of stylish wheelchair women everywhere. Every piece is drafted to the seated frame and takes into consideration every fashion issue that may come up from sitting 24/7.

A standout piece of Iz Adaptive are the Skinny Jeans, which are made of a lightweight stretchy denim and are the perfect jean for wheelchair women. The stretchy denim enables the pant to fit to the legs perfectly, no matter their shape, and they cost a mere $48.00. She’s also offering suit jackets starting at $75.95, tops starting at $25.00, and dresses for only $49.95. The Pleated Front Jersey Dress is my personal fav (jersey fabric = <3), and is available in Cream, Black, Turquoise, and Fushia.

Now you may be asking…why would a fashion designer care about dressing disabled women? Because she’s a visionary, and she knows that (yes WE!) still care about how our style despite a wheelchair being in the picture.

Women with disabilities exemplify what it means to be “real.” We are the perfect (rolling) model, turning heads wherever we go with our awesome style (if we have it, and many of us do). From the gorgeous Sophie Morgan (a paraplegic) on Britain’s Missing Top Model to this amazing group of hotties in wheelchairs known as Chairlies Angels, we are growing in number, and we demand clothes that look great, fit us perfectly, and yes, don’t max out our credit cards.

Freezing credit cards in a block of ice to stop yourself from spending is for the birds. Am I right or am I right?
