Aw man. This so cool. The freakin’ legendary rapper Snoop Dogg has teamed up with 4WheelCity, a rapping duo out of Bronx, NY who were paralyzed in separate gun violence incidents and use wheelchairs, to help inspire youth across the country to stay in school. Together, with Snoop’s mixing and rapping abilities, they’ve created a track called the “Welcome to Reality G-Mix.” The song is available on ReverbNation and features Snoop's laid back flow with “Tapwaterz" in your face, East Coast lyricism, over a horn heavy, rugged, West Coast beat.
4WheelCity is a really cool group you should know about. Namel "Tapwaterz" Norris and Ricardo "Rickfire" Velasquez are the two members. Velasquez, who was struck by a wayward bullet in his Bronx neighborhood, was introduced to Norris three years after his injury. Norris at the time was recently injured, and like Velasquez, was experiencing all of his friends jumping ship (a sad side-effect for a lot of folks who suffer a spinal cord injury. People just can‘t deal). His mom asked Velasquez if he’d befriend her son since he was newly injured, and soon they discovered that had more in common than just being wheelchair-users: They both had a passion for hip-hop.
They formed 4 Wheel Records a few months after meeting, and the rest is history. Both were rappers before their injuries, and now they perform inspiring hip-hop about disability and injustices, and now about staying in school to endangered youth, in places all around the country you might not expect, like schools, nursing homes and hospitals.
