Yesterday afternoon in a suburb of Toronto, a 63 year old man who was using a powerchair (his condition has yet to be released by police, but they will say he doesn‘t have any form of paralysis), robbed a bank by claiming he had strapped explosives to his wheelchair.

So, it went down like this: This guy went to a TD Bank branch yesterday morning (a popular bank chain in Canada), which just happened to be down the street from the apartment building he lived in. And while he actually didn’t have any explosives strapped to his chair, he lied to an employee saying he did, after approaching a teller window. And the possibly odd part, he was successful. After receiving a certain amount of undisclosed cash, the accused fled the scene in his wheelchair and returned home.

What? He returned home? And the police claim he has no obvious psychological problems? I think I may have to disagree on this one! Who in their right mind just goes home after robbing a bank? Did he the cameras in the bank wouldn’t make it relatively easy for the police to find him?

Anyways, the police figured out who the idiot was a few hours later, and then went and arrested him, and were able to recover the money as well. All and all, the case is now closed. They released him today using an “officer in charge” order, which puts a number of stipulations on him before they let him return home (I’m guessing he was too much work medically to have him holed up in jail for days/weeks on end until his trial).

It makes you wonder if the guy thought he’d get away with it because he used a wheelchair.

    Well, it's true.

People with disabilities really can do anything able-bodied people can.

    In this case, "being stupid."
