Another very important issue is the fact that some folks leave their jobs, and their benefits, to seek other employment when they become disabled. They then have trouble, in some cases, finding or keeping work. Leaving that first job can be a very big mistake if there is a disability policy and health and life insurance benefits attached. it is important to know our rights, and not just fulfill the understandable desire to "keep working" and "be okay" when the financial future may depend on those rights. bonnie

Re: Disabled in one job may not mean disabled in another

Thanks for the information. It's important to know your rights.

I Thank God I knew some of my employee rights and fought for them when I tore my Achilles tendon. My employer did so many things not right (or legal in some cases) finally terminating me while I was in surgery and cutting off my health insurance a week later, ALL with no notice.

Hardest lesson learned was no one seemed to care but me.

Business,Career,Finance,Health,Legal,Medical,Uncategorized | Fired Neiman Marcus worker can sue, court rules — Recycle Email

Pingback from Business,Career,Finance,Health,Legal,Medical,Uncategorized | Fired Neiman Marcus worker can sue, court rules — Recycle Email

Re: US House of Reps passes amendments to the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)

This computer access is very nice as an option for the disabled citizens of USA. Now you can read some of my story.

I read your story about "Charity sues Yonkers"

Good news about Shell , they earned a Score of 100 in Human Rights
Campaign Foundation's Seventh Annual Index HOUSTON, Sept. 2

If Companies operated like Shell, we would have no need for affirmative action!

I have my own discrimination story with Hiram Walkers (Walkerville) location; it’s good to see a major
international Corporation eliminating discrimination in our society.

As the past has shown us if it’s unchallenged eventually it becomes a serious problem.
            or nothing changes

            Thank you.

I have included some evidence for you to review, I have more to follow.
Hiram Walkers continues to deny the truth and stonewall, they do not want the allegations heard in Court.

Here is a good example why the United States should keep "some form" of affirmative action in place!

How many unionized ethnic minorities were hired with seniority at Hiram Walkers (Walkerville) location since 1858....
Any Latino? Asians? Native American? Black or Arabs? hired since 1967 to 2008?
The answer is shocking!

I was forced out of my job because of blatant racism at a major distillery Hiram Walkers owned by PERNOD RICARD makers of Malibu rum, Wiser's, C.C., Polar Ice etc.
I was employed there for 23 yrs when I began in 1985 there was app. 700 employees in the union sector, by 2005 there were a total of 4 blacks and 1 Latino with seniority. The last was hired in 1988.
I have experienced racism, discrimination, harassment, and being passed over for job promotions, they want my complaints concealed and in an endless loop.
If the facts were exposed, the general public and ethnic minorities would be outraged!
Why should the general public and ethnic minorities support a business that allowed discrimination/racism and have continued to deny the
facts supplied to them.
We will continue to seek justice!!!!

I don't believe discrimination will ever end, however if everyone SPEAKS UP we could keep it at a minimum.
Everyone is equal and these Corporations must be held accountable.

Do your part!!!!

Derrick
The only other black man with seniority at Hiram Walkers at the time of my leave was FRED CHAVIS....he too no longer works at the plant...he too has issues with the Company and their discriminatory practices. Fred also experienced the *** word and passed over for job promotions while employed at Hiram Walkers. Fred states that This Company did not report his complaints or job related accident that led to life threatening surgery.
Why would the only two black men in the union at Hiram Walkers Walkerville location both have discrimination complaints???

Hiram Walkers feels that keeping the facts of Systemic,Racism,Discrimination,
Conspiracy, and Fraud out of the courts on jurisdiction, is a "Successful Conclusion"

Bold quote from Hiram Walkers attorney
"At the outset, we note that our client is not a "federal work or undertaking" and as
. such, neither the Canadian Employment Equity Act nor the Canadian Human Rights Act apply
to our client's operations."
Is Hiram Walkers above the Canadian Human Rights Act, as stated by their attorney???

How many ethnic minorities, people with disabilities gays and lesbian are on the seniority list at Hiram Walkers?

How much money do these Minority groups spend annually in the Spirits Industry???? Millions or Billions

We are also pursuing to have legislation amendment.
