TRAVIS PASTRANA, CLAY EGAN, NITRO CIRCUS PART 2
Last night we got invited to go to the viewing of the new Greg Godfrey, Travis Pastrana, Nitro Circus, Thrillbillies Double wide movie premier. The show was bad fricken ass. The whole Nitro Circus crew was there in full color. Travis came in with a new cast on his hand. He had broken it on a stunt earlier that day. The place was packed.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with the Thrillbilly videos, they are crazy. All of these crazy guys and girls do some of the sickest stunts. Stunts that make you think, who thinks of these things. Some of those stunts include, Travis riding a big wheel off of a 1000 foot tall rock wall in the Grand Canyon and then throwing a parachute and floating to the bottom. Jolene the Nitro Girl, better know as Jimmy pulls off a back flip on her dirt bike for the Evil Kneaval tribute. She is the first chick to pull off a back flip on a bike. She is the gnarliest action sports chick you’ve ever scene and she’s really cute too.
There was a sequence in there where Greg Godfrey and Travis Pastrana were down at the Baja 1000 in 2007 and they were doing what’s called Iron manning the race. When ever you here someone talking about Iron manning the Baja 1000 it means they rode it solo. Meaning they raced the whole 1000 miles alone without any co-drivers or breaks. This particular year the Baja 1000 was actually about 1280 miles long. It varies a little bit each year. To make a long story short Travis was into the race about 1080 miles and had been on his bike a total of like 30 hours without sleep or any breaks other than to refuel and change tires, when his motor just seezed up. He was done with only about 200 miles to the finish. Greg forged on. When Greg finally crossed the finish line he had not only won the race but he set a world record for the first ever to win the race on a motorcycle while Iron manning the race. It took him just over 40 hours on his bike alone. That is one of the biggest wins in the history of the Baja 1000. I was talking to Greg’s wife Shelly about it last night and she said that Greg slept for about four days straight after the race.
All in all, the movie was a smash hit. If ya ever get a chance to watch it, do it. You won’t be disappointed. You can also see different trailers of the film on YouTube on the Nitro Circus page. This was one of the best, if not the best action sports film I have ever watched.
