I am not quite adept at this site just yet!

I am a recreation program coordinator among other things and over the past 10 years doin so, I have seen the benefits first hand.

When a person with agorophobia comes out from behind the walls to visit the outside and life again.. I am glad that the state still allows such programs to exist. I have seen people come from out of the shadows and into their own light. It is a beautiful thing!

Seeing the horse helps them burst out of their shell. Once on the horse, they are warm up excercises. There one person each one on the both sides of horse, holding the rider on securely. They are called "side walkers". Theres a bonding with a horse that sometimes is missing in physical therapy. and a cooperation of this child listen carefully. After warming up, they get to ride over kavileties, with keeping their balance.

It good any one with a disability. Riding for years really increased better posture and much stronger legs to stand on. And an over all good workout that physical therapy lacks in exercise.

I think this is your first blog post--and it's a good one.

"physically and socially active recreation is related to quality of life in the general population, as well as in people with various disabilities." I definitely think the research got this one right. Even though it's hard work, there are few things more invigorating to me than a day spenk hiking with friends. And there is something about time spent in community that lifts the heart (one of the reasons why Disaboom is so important--it provides a sort of highly accessible community).

Looking forward to more of your posts.
