Earlier this evening, I was watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with Darrell; our Sunday evening ritual. The designers' ideas for the kids' bedroom always amaze me; the bedrooms are so creative and cool. Then, out of nowhere, I began wondering where my bloggy friends used to put their creativity. On the next commercial break, I tweeted my question:

Twitter message: Before blogging and such, where did we all our creativity?

By the next commercial break, there were a few responses waiting for me on Twitter:

  • @Akula said graffiti ;-) (Hmm, interesting!)
  • @studio747 was really involved with making jewelry and painting.
  • @deafmom daydreamed a lot. Now she shares what's in her head with the world. LOL
  • ggw_bach reflected we are definitely entering an age of super-creativity. All the tools are there; the connections too. Just marvel.

On Facebook, Lori-ann added, "well...some people I know... wrote their autobiography :)". (Hmm, I wonder who she is referring too!)

My first question began me thinking about another one: Has blogging diverted your creativity from other passions?

@steven_sanders lamented that blogging has pulled his creativity away from his website design and development. He never gets work done at his job any more. (Oops, I hope his boss isn't following him on Twitter!)

For me, blogging provides my creativity with an outlet. I love when I have a thought or an idea, and can then write it and share it. To be able to add photos or images, which I can play with and manipulate until I get just so, adds to the creative experience. However, blogging has taken me away from other hobbies like needlework and macrame. But those hobbies were solitary and didn't benefit anyone else but myself. With blogging, I get to create with words, connect with other people, and, occasionally, benefit others - all of which I love doing.

How about you? Where did you put your creativity before you began blogging? Has blogging diverted your creativity from other passions or enhanced it?

Without the internet I wouldn't be able to express my creativity much at all, given my disabilities. I blog personally, I run ATMac and NoPity Shirts and write other bits at other times ... It's not blogging itself that makes this possible, but it's computer and internet access certainly. I'd have a much less connected and interesting life without it!

Hi All Being some what new to blogging in general yet I think that any time there is an out let (means) for expression we should use it for all that its worth.Lets face it every one as an opinion but not every one had the out let or means to reach so many up untill now. I try to explore that idea on some of my blogs mixing fact, humor and opinion(and also steering us)toward a goal*more independence and freedom. And I am also trying to let people know that with all this great way of communication(the internet) there are ways of generating income while your having fun and expressing your self.Unless of course most of us do not need extra money and we are just blogging because we have a lot of spare time on our hands(smile). So I've found a great way (along with blogging) to send video emails to who-ever and its both fun, creative, informative, and I am making money from it -so lets ask our selves this-When was the last time Face Book,Twitter,My-space,Your space, his space her-space or any body elses space, Napster,Hipster,Dipster and flipster PAID you money or provided the way to make money while doing all this???Well I don't know about them-I do know about ME. Jerry Contaldo Want the info??Its free, Email me at..Jerry@yourvideoemail.com Everthing is already in place you only have to "tap into it"and start using it wisely and then keep on blogging!!!

Hi Glenda: The answer: It has definitely improved my creativity, ability to think linearly, and improved my writing skills! I wish I had more time and more to say.

Blogging has totally enhanced my creativity. I'm a much more consistent writer now. If I get blocked, I'll blog for a bit to restart the muse on the write path.
