Hello Disaboomers!!

As you know your site has been growing like crazy.  We now have over 500,000 people visiting every month; it has been awesome to watch.  To pay the bills and operate the site we have been selling advertising to national companies like Ford, GM, J&J, Cricket, etc.. via our own in-house sales team.  You have no doubt seen the ads on the site.

As you have most likely seen we have also launched our Marketplace Section.  The idea here is to encourage local businesses to advertise their products and/or services to our community, to offer discounts, coupons, etc... (think of it as an expanded, flexible, more direct Yellow Pages ad)  If you have not checked out the Marketplace Section you should as there are tons of great categories we will be populating with local businesses.

Here is the deal.  To populate this section with business listings (ads) we could expand our in-house sales team, we could hire an outside sales organization or we could hire YOU.  We have decided to explore over the next couple of days the idea of hiring from within our community.

Here is how it works.  You would contact businesses in your area from the categories we currently have, please see this link for the categories http://www.disaboom.com/marketplace/.  You would be presenting either in person or by phone to the business the opportunity to place an ad in the Marketplace Section of the site.  The cost to place a local ad is $300/year (that is only $25/month), the cost to place a national ad is $600/year (again, that is only $50/month).  Very simple, for every local ad you sell we send you a check for $100, for every national ad you sell we send you a check for $200.  Just think of all the businesses you know that would fall into the current categories, just think of the referrals you will get from the businesses that buy a listing from you.  Again very simple, you sell an ad per week and you would make between $400 and $800 per month.  You work when you want to, when you can and at your own pace.  Make as much as you want.

I will be sending a personal invitation out to our Registered Users tomorrow.  I am really excited about this product and the opportunity to work and make money together.

Thanks for listening and let me know what you think.

I first heard about this today as I took a break from the hospital and traveled to the road to Denver to make sure everyone was hard at work. Like always, they were. JW told me his idea to create a disaboom marketplace that had more focus on the disability community.

Also, he told me how anyone in the community could make money doing this from home. I like that idea. This is a chance for every mom & pop outpatient therapy company, orthotics & prosthetics, massage therapy, physicians, and more to be part of a community database and reach the very people who can benefit. And do it cheap.

    Great idea!

This is an excellent idea.  I would love to be involved.  It is like a blessing to me because I have searched for some time for a job, such as this.  I actually was not sure I could trust the sites and jobs offered.  Great idea..I want to hear more..soon

Great Idea! I have been looking for a "Work from Home" job for awhile, this would be a great opportunity to make some extra cash and to help people like myself...

What a fantastic idea!  The cool folks who read the site would no doubt also be the the best at selling the site, too!

I would be tickled to help out in any way I can here in the greater Albuquerque area.

SO many local (and national) disability-focused companies would just love the opportunity to reach their target market within this growing, forward-minded community.

Can't wait to hear how I can be of use to the disaboom community!

I think this is a great idea, JW. I have some recommendations. If you already have this in the works or I missed it being on the site already, please excuse me.

I had a bunch of questions like where to get the info I would need to "make a sale"? How to claim credit for the sale? How to locate who has already advertised so I don't try to farm a company already approached?  What material am I allowed to print in order to facilitate a sales pitch?

In wandering around the Disaboom.com site looking for answers to these questions I came up with a few suggestions:

First, put a link on each page (at the bottom) for "Affiliates."  When you click on this link the first page would be similar to your post - introducing the concept. The second page would have a (printable) checklist for the potential affiliate to go through step by step similar to the following.

    1.  Read the conditions and sign up as an affiliate. (Get an affiliate number?).

    2.  Print at least one copy of the following docs. (Printing good quality color copies at a print shop is a plus but not necessary.)

        (links)

     a) Disaboom overview

     b) Disaboom media kit

     c) Disaboom IA T&C

     d) Sponsored content policy

     e) ?Affiliate Sales form?

    3. Read over these docs and familiarize yourself with them.

    4. When you find a potential advertiser, search the website to make sure they aren't already there.

    5. Contact the person in the company responsible for advertising decisions.

    6. Present the printed documents for their information and perusal.

    7.  ???? -- Have the company contact Disaboom and mention you (affiliate No.)

????  -- Have the company fill out the Affiliate Sales Form and fax/mail to Disaboom for credit for the sale.

You see, there were a few areas that seemed unclear to me.  I thought expressing them might help this process. I think this opportunity is very exciting. I don't think I would be able to take advantage of this program because if I "earn" any wages I lose my "disabled" status, even if it isn't enough to support me but I know several people who could and it would be so awesome for them.
