I’m embarking on a new venture, namely, sharing some of my favorite finds on the web (both disability and non-disability related) on a weekly basis.

Paralympics Phenomenon – The Paralympics are slowly but surely approaching! In terms of athletes, Matt Scott (wheelchair basketball) and Alejandro Albor (cycling) are currently bloggers on Disaboom. In the living section of the site, there are some great articles on Matt, Alejandro,  Jessica Galli (track and field), and Jason Regier (wheelchair rugby). Another cool article/video about wheelchair rugby is ESPN.com’s recent article detailing the rivalry between the U.S. and Canada teams. Interested in learning more about Paralympic athletes in general? Check out the new article “Creating Paralympians.”

What to Say? - Another interesting find is Diversity Inc.’s two part series: “Things NEVER to Say to People with Disabilities,” and “Things ‘to’ Say to People with Disabilities.” An example of a thing DI recommends never to say: “But you look so good.” A recommended saying is “Can I ask about your disability?” Check out the two articles and see what you think about their recommendations. By the way, the latter article features comments from Disaboom blogger DeafMom!

Happy Love Thursday! - As a photography-lover, a cool find for me was “Shutter Sisters.” The pictures, mostly a mix of nature and portraits, are beautiful. My favorite part is the concept of “Love Thursday,” where every Thursday the photo posted depicts some photographic representation of love.

Lollipop, Lollipop - And finally, just for fun…meter pops. (Does that mean no parking meter charges?)

Enjoy!
