The thousands of protesters, led by Iraq veterans, who marched today on the Democratic National Convention have won a major victory: A meeting with a liason from the Obama campaign. Flanked by hundreds of riot police in the "First Amendment Zone" outside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, the protesters have remained peaceful. The veterans say they want to read a letter addressed to Barack Obama.
The march, which was conducted without a permit, came from a Rage Against the Machine concert at the Denver Coliseum and marched to the Pepsi Center. Estimates of the group's size range from 3,000 to 12,000.
