The 25th anniversary of the disability-advocacy group ADAPT kicked off today in Washington D.C. Hundreds of participants walked, jogged, and wheeled their way through Upper Senate Park in order to raise funds for the organization. Attendees arranged sponsorship with donors based upon the number of laps they completed, and some spent close to the full three hours on the move. Over five-hundred ADAPT members are currently in Washington for the event, and they hope to use their robust presence on the picket line, where they’ll be urging Senators and Congressman to support the Community Choice Act.
