In my experience, most hearing people don't understand the concept of a deaf person being able to say "I'm deaf and can't hear you" and actually can't hear them. Even when you write to them, they will still try to talk back and I'm like "I'm deaf not mute..." If you are alone and cannot understand them, mouth "I'm deaf" while signing it, they usually understand this. I try to tell most hearing people to just take ASL.

Re: Michael Savage Insists Children with Autism are Brats

you guys are frickin nitpicking idiots. Savage is the only one fighting socialism and big corrupt government. He is full of great things and wether he said this or that taken out of context. While the middle class is eliminated and our freedoms are taken away, your autistic kids will go down with all of us in the sinking usa ship. When your towns filled with mexicans and obama healthcare is milking 1/6 of the economy, you people will go on and on. I got news for you, freedom of speech isnt for protecting you touchy scum. Its for protecting that which does offend you. Put that in your uncaring to the country's pipe and smoke it while you bag on the one guy standing up for 800 million americans. So he offended you, so what, listen to his shows day after day and you'll see he actually is caring would be very nice to any autistic kids. Stop being so sensitive, your like a black or mexican yelling RACISM Omg, Americans have become weak pricks, so go on typing while your country goes down.

Twitter and disability: The good, the bad, and the funny

Because my 70+ page dissertation proposal wasn't enough to amuse me this Saturday evening, I decided

Re: People with Disabilities in the News

Congratulations! She's hearing impaired in certain ranges. We've both found it frustrating that the videos found online are not captioned. It would seem to be a simple thing to add, even if it was optional. They've already got the captions. Why not add them to the uploaded vids?

Re: I'm Sorry, What Did You Say?

It happens to me all the time! It might be helpful to have a change.org, care2, mypetition, DemocracyinAction, or other tool for helping people connect with their electeds and provide a sample letter.

Or just some talking points or a sample letter here that people could base their message around would be fantastic.

I hope this pays off and we see more accessible online videos from the networks

Re: IL Budget Cuts Hurt Those Who Need It Most

thanks for sharing with nice blog. excellent your writing.

Was Michael Jackson's memorial accessible to all?

According to his devoted family, friends, and fans, Michael Jackson represented many things to many people
