Kaycie, my lovable West Highland White Terrier loves to chew on things that she's not supposed to. Just a few days ago, she got into my purse and dragged out a tube of lipstick. She chewed on the lipstick until it was in pieces. This wasn't the first tube of lipstick that she had gotten ahold of--just two weeks before she chewed up my favorite tube of lip gloss that I had left in the bathroom. Six bucks out the window.
When she was a puppy, she destroyed my absolute favorite pair of high heels. Those shoes were not cheap. I have extra wide feet and finding shoes that fit is a rare thing in my life. I have since trained myself to put my treasured things high out of her reach. It's like having a toddler all over again. My daughter just learned the same lesson over the weekend when Kaycie got into her favorite heels.
I went out and bought a hanging shoe rack for our laundry room and now we're putting our shoes up there. I'm also trying to give Kaycie more treats, attention and chew toys.
Kaycie has a thing for rabbits and she works herself up into a frenzy when she sees one outside of my office. We always keep the wooden blinds halfway up the window so she doesn't destroy them. Unfortunately, one night in December, someone (the hubby, the kids, whoever-- I know it wasn't ME!) left the blinds down and Kaycie's chair parked near the window. Once we all take our hearing aids off, we can't hear a thing at night. On most nights, Kaycie sleeps in my bed. Well that night, Kaycie must have gone nuts over a rabbit-- she destroyed the wooden blinds and tore a chunk out of two slats.
And those blinds cost a heck of a lot more than the shoes.
