Hi,

I would like to see the cerebral palsy group and its members become active again.  This is my first CP blog but I hope it will be the first of many.  I just wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and ask you to get involved in the CP group again.

My name is Trish and I am a forty two year old single female with mild CP diagnosed with left spastic hemiplegia at age two.  The CP affects my left hand and leg.  I walk with a slight limp wearing both a right and left AFO (ankle foot orthotics).  The right one is very new to me for it was only prescribed about a month ago.  I am finding it frustrating and challenging walking with two AFO's and will begin physical therapy soon for gait training.  Although my CP is mild and I am fiercely independent, as I age I have increasingly more aches, pains, and difficulties.

I am active in church.  I enjoy working with the youth ministry and nursery.  My other hobbies.interest include listening to music, Nascar, reading, writing short stories, walking/exercise, and chatting online with friends.  I enjoy helping people.

Please join me in bringing life and interest back to the CP group.  Feel free to introduce yourself and ask questions.  How has CP affected your life and your family? How have you dealt with it and accepted it? Are you experiencing more pain or difficulties as you get older?  Thank you for sharing your story.  I look forward to hearing from you!

Take care all and God Bless You.

Trish

Yes I agree this section does need some CPR before going flatline!! Whare were you guys during this last election? Whare are your voices now with the possiblity of "National Health"? There will be no other time in your lives to speak out. Do it now!

Dear Trish, I don't have CP but I took care of CP patients before. I had 7 years experience doing Neuroscience Nursing..Can I join your club? I agree with your post-AFOs are challenging. In my case, it feels very tight and my expensive health plan is not doing anything about it.

Hi Trish: I never knew that the CP Club was even active. Whenever I check on the site it seems to be "DOA". Perhaps set up a meeting at the chatroom
